A regular workout routine has so many benefits. Just to name a few benefits, it improves your mood, helps you maintain a healthy weight, improves sleep, and improves you health.

But getting back into a workout routine after you’ve taken some time off can be tricky. So here are some tips to minimize your risk of injury while getting back into your workout routine.

  1. Start Slowly
    • Don’t jump into a fast workout. Do your workouts at an easier pace, then gradually build back up to your previous abilities.
    • Start with shorter time/distance. Slowly increase the time and distance of your workouts.
  2. Stop If You Feel Pain
    • If it’s the first time you’re working out in a while, you might feel some soreness which is normal. But don’t work through any twinges or pains.
  3. Dress Appropriately
    • Wear the right shoes for the workout you’re doing.
  4. Lift Lighter
    • When getting back into a strength training routine, you’ll have to start at a lighter weight than what you used to do and then build back up to heavier weights and more complex movements.

    • Recovery is important, too. Remember to take a recovery day each week.
  7. Warm Up
    • Warm up before every workout. this will prepare you muscles, lungs, and heart for the main set of the workout and prevents injury. Even easy workouts will benefit from a short warm up.
  8. Cool Down & Stretch
    • Cool down and stretch after every workout. This will bring your body back to a resting.
  9. Keep Nutrition In Mind
    • Remember to hydrate throughout the day and eat nutritious food.
