The majority of our athletes are long course athletes (half marathon & longer and 70.3 & longer), but we also work with short course athletes (5k, 10k, sprint tri, and Olympic tri). Monthly coaching (the Rising Star level of coaching) is fully customized and individualized to each athlete. It as an ongoing relationship with your coach who delivers your training a regular intervals. Your coach monitors your progress and adjusts training and recovery where needed. Training plans (the Go Getter level of coaching) are a short term training option. Plans are created and delivered as one full block of training, usually leading up to one race. It does not include adjustments or monitoring of your training.
At a minimum, a simple sports watch that measures time is required. While a GPS watch, heart rate monitor, and power meter aren't necessities, they are recommended because they will help us monitor and analyze your training and racing. If you're interested in getting or upgrading any of these, your coach can help you decide which is best for you.
As an exercise physiologist and a Certified Metabolic Efficiency Training Specialist, Coach Joan is qualified to discuss general nutrition as well as training and race day nutrition. You will receive nutrition guidance as a monthly coached athlete, or when joining the Rise Endurance Nutrition Program. If you're looking for supplement or food prescription for a particular condition, we suggest you work with our recommended registered dietitians who can prescribe foods and supplements. You will get the best results by working with both an exercise physiologist and a registered dietitian.
Training for monthly coached athletes is delivered through TrainingPeaks. Your coach will upload your workouts directly to your calendar and will monitor & analyze your training regularly. If you purchased a pre-made plan, the plan will be available in your training plan library and you will be able to apply the full plan to your calendar. If you purchase a custom plan, your coach will upload the full plan directly onto your TrainingPeaks calendar. Club athletes will receive their training through TriDot or RunDot. You must be coachable and dedicated to improving. Communication is extremely important. It's expected that you will update your coach frequently with workout updates, health updates, and schedule updates.
Rise Endurance coaching is auto-renewed until you cancel. To cancel your monthly coaching, contact your coach at least four weeks prior to your next billing cycle. To avoid being charged for the next period of coaching, you must cancel prior to your renewal date.
Nutrition Coaching FAQ
We are happy to work with all levels and abilities of athletes. Whether you're a beginner, an experienced age grouper, a weekend warrior, or a professional athlete, our goal is to help you feel good, race better, and become healthier. Whichever kind of athlete you are, we always start with an initial consultation to discuss our approach to help you.
Our Nutrition Program is 4 weeks long.
After the initial consultation, you'll submit the initial forms for your coach to review. During the four week program, we'll have one phone call per week as well as email communication. Each phone call will last up to 45 minutes. During the four weeks, we'll discuss both daily nutrition and sports nutrition. As part of the program, you're also eligible to receive our partner discounts and biomarker testing discounts.
After you complete our Nutrition Program, your coach will make a recommendation based on how you progressed during your four weeks. This may include going on your own with what you've learned, a Nutrition Maintenance call as needed, or repeating the Nutrition Program. Everyone has individual needs and progresses at different rates, so you and your coach will discuss your best possible route and needs at the end of the program.
Our Nutrition Maintenance is a one time phone call that's either 30 minutes or one hour in length. During your phone call, we can discuss daily nutrition, sports nutrition, or other questions you have concerning sport and nutrition.
The Nutrition Program includes one phone call per week that is up to 45 minutes. Email communication is also include. Nutrition Maintenance is only one phone call that is either 30 minutes or one hour in length.
Custom Training Plan FAQ
After purchasing a custom training plan, our aim is to get you your plan as quickly as possible. How quickly you receive the plan will depend on how long the plan is. Since these are custom plans tailored to you specifically, they do take at least a couple of days to create.

Club connections and communications can be done several ways: Through the club's communication app, through Strava, and through Garmin Connect. All instructions and links are included with your membership.
Form Improvement FAQ
Form improvement is when a runner, swimmer, or triathlete works on making changes to improve their form or technique. This is usually accomplished through drills or exercises that can be incorporated into their workouts. Depending on the athlete, these changes could be small or major adjustments.
Working on your form will help you to become more efficient at your sport. This leads to being able to run and swim easier and can result in you running and swimming faster.
You do not have to be local to the coach. We can work with you virtually which is more convenient and saves you time. We supply you with detailed instructions on how to take a video and how to send it to us.
Yes, the terms can be used interchangeably. We us video analysis to evaluate and breakdown your running and swimming technique.
After your coach receives your video, we do a detailed analysis of your running and swimming technique. After our analysis, you receive a report with a breakdown of your current form and our expert recommendations. These recommendations include what needs improvement and what exercises or drills to do in order to improve your technique.
